What counts as a ‘Lead’?

Attributer’s pricing (for single sites) is based on the number of leads you get each month. But what counts as a lead? And how can you see how many you’ve used or have left? These are common questions, and you can read on to find the answers.

What counts as a lead?

A lead is essentially a form submission. So if you get 200 form submissions each month, then that would be considered 200 leads.

We chose this metric to base our pricing on because it directly relates to the value Atttributer provides you. Some of our competitors base their pricing on the number of website visitors you get, but we think that is silly. If someone visits your website but doesn’t become a lead, then Attributer (or our competitors’ products) don’t provide any information to you, so why should you pay for it?

How can I see how many leads I have used or how many I have left?

We don’t actually show how many leads you have used (or by extension, how many you have left) in your account.

In the early days of Attributer, we actually used to do this, but we found it caused confusion with customers. This is because it’s virtually impossible for our lead count to exactly match what you see in your form builder or CRM tool.

This can happen for a number of reasons, but the main one is spam. The Attributer code on your website counts each time a form is submitted, but many form tools have backend logic to detect and delete spam submissions, so we found that our counts could sometimes be much higher than what you see in your CRM or the submissions table in your form builder.

So we decided just to remove it from the Attributer UI and just monitor it in the backend ourselves.

Do you automatically move me between plans if I go over the number of leads on my plan?

No, as previously mentioned, there are a number of reasons why our form submission count could be higher than what you see in your CRM or form tool, and we wouldn’t want to charge you for leads you’re not getting.

We also understand that sometimes you have good months where you might go a little over, and others you might have bad months and be under, and we wouldn’t want to bounce you up and down between plans.

So we just monitor it in our little purpose-built tool on the backend, and if we see you are going significantly over your lead limit each month then we would reach out and have a conversation, but we would never automatically start charging you more without your approval.
