Receiving ‘Expired Attributer Licence’ message in error

If you are receiving the message ‘Expired or Invalid Attributer Licence’ with each new lead, and you are confident you have a paying Attriburer account, then this article will explain why this is happening and what can be done to fix it.
Why this is happening
In May 2025, we launched a new version of our licencing system which removed the 403 error that appeared in the console when you had a valid Attributer licence.

Although the error was harmless, it caused confusion with our customers, so we decided to update the licensing system to ensure it doesn’t show.
As part of the update, we released a new version of the Attributer code that customers place on their website.
For 98% of our customers, this update will have go unnoticed, but if you have a caching plugin or CDN installed on your website, then it may be caching and serving up to your website visitors an old version of the Attributer code, and this is what is causing the ‘Expired or Invalid Attributer Licence’ message to display even though you have a valid account.
How to tell if my website is serving an old version of the Attributer code
The easiest way to tell if your website is serving an old version of the Attributer code is to navigate to your website, open the Console, and then look at the version number. The latest version is 25.05.19.1.
It should look a bit like this:
If you don’t know how to open the console in your browser, this article will show you how.
What to do if your website is serving an old version of the Attributer code
If you’ve looked at the version number in the Console and can see your website is serving an old version of the Attributer code (I.e. it isn’t Version 25.05.19.1), then you need to clear the cache of your website.
Links to do this in the most frequently used caching plugins and CDN’s can be found below:
- Clear WPEngine cache
- Clear Kinsta cache
- Clear WP Rocket cache
- Clear NitroPack Cache
- Clear Cloudflare cache
If you have cleared the cache(s) and are still experiencing issues, contact our support team and we’ll be able to help you.
