Landing page data not captured in Calendly

If you’re using Attributer with Calendly, you may have noticed that you are not getting the landing page data. This article will explain why that is and what your options are.
Why Landing Page data isn’t captured in Calendly
With most standard form tools, you add a series of hidden fields to your forms that Attributer will write the marketing attribution data into.
Calendly, on the other hand, does not allow the addition of hidden fields. Instead, it has pre-built fields for all 5 UTM parameters (UTM medium, source, campaign, term, and content) that are already built into the forms in your Calendly widget.
As a result, Attributer uses these prebuilt fields to write the attribution information in. We map our Channel fields to Calendly’s UTM fields as follows:
- ‘UTM Medium’ in Calendly is populated by Attributer’s ‘Channel’ field
- ‘UTM Source’ in Calendly is populated by Attributer’s ‘Channel Drilldown 1’ field
- ‘UTM Campaign’ in Calendly is populated by Attributer’s ‘Channel Drilldown 2’ field
- ‘UTM Term’ in Calendly is populated by Attributer’s ‘Channel Drilldown 3’ field
Given that Attributer captures the UTM source in Channel Drilldown 1, the UTM Campaign in Channel Drilldown 2 and the UTM Term in Channel Drilldown 3, this ultimately means that the UTM parameters you use behind your ads are mapped into the correct fields in Calendly.
Unfortunately, though, means it isn’t possible to capture the landing page as there simply aren’t enough of these pre-built fields to pass through the landing page and landing page group fields on top of all the Channel fields.
What your options are
Our recommendation is to place a standard form (built using Gravity Forms, Typeform, Jotform, etc) in front of the Calendly widget, and add the Channel and Landing Page fields to that form.
Then when the user completes the form, set up a redirect to the page where the Calendly widget is so they can book a time.
This approach has a number of advantages:
- Greater number of leads – We have this exact flow on our website and have found that approximately 30% of leads that complete the initial form do not book a time in the Calendly widget. Which means that if we just had the Calendly widget and no initial form, we would get 30% less leads.
- Captures all Attributer data – By using another form builder for the initial form, you can add all the hidden fields (including the landing page fields) and capture all the data Attributer provides. You can even capture some additional data, including the GCLID, FBCLID, MSCLKID, Submit Page or even custom parameters of your choosing.
